The Elderly

“There are so few who can grow old with good grace” (Sir Richard Steele 1672 – 1729)

We are fortunate in this Benefice in having so many older inhabitants who give so much to the villages and churches in so many ways and who are indeed growing old with “good grace”.

We value them and we value their experience and contribution. They are more aware than anyone of the need to attract younger families into both villages and churches in order that these lovely villages and churches continue to thrive, and many welcome the range of worship which is available, from traditional services, through a whole spectrum, to more informal services.

Silver Service

We hold a monthly lunch club, held at Oddington Village Hall which includes:

A home cooked two course lunch
A relaxed and attractive venue
Waitress or Waiter Service
Soft Drinks (Those attending can bring their own alcoholic drinks if they wish)
Tea or Coffee afterwards
“Thought for the Day” (A short thought from one of the Ministry Team)
Transport can be arranged

There is a modest charge for lunch and transport, but no one will be excluded if they wish to come and cannot contribute financially.

Please book your place with Cressy Landless at the Church Office on 01451 831424. If you leave a message it would be helpful to include your phone number and whether or not you need a lift.

Please see the Pew Notes and Social Calendar for further dates and information.

Pastoral Care

In each village, there is a Pastoral Representative who meets regularly with the Ministry Team to ensure that local pastoral needs of all parishioners, and particularly those who are elderly, are being met as far as possible.
