St Mary's Westcote

History

The parish of Westcote is made up of five settlements, the largest of which are Church Westcote and Nether Westcote. The Parish Church and the village hall are in Church Westcote and the Methodist Chapel and pub are in Nether Westcote. St. Mary’s church dates back to 13th century when the village centre moved following the Black Death. The church was almost completely restored durint the mid 19th century, providing a wider nave and chancel, ideal for the regular concerts which take place. The font, tower and bells are original.

Services

The tradition of St Mary’s was Anglo-Catholic, but the affection in which the villagers hold the Methodist Chapel mean that Westcote has the best of all worlds in terms of breath of worshipping opportunities and most services are informal and family friendly.
