Keep Caro Warm!

We need to insulate the Benefice Office.

The Benefice Office situated in the Holy Ascension, Oddington vestry is poorly insulated and expensive to heat. It can be well below the minimum legal working temperature (16°C), which affects both the staff and equipment.

What’s the solution?

We have now received permission to improve the draughtproofing and insulation of the office. The plan is to:

  • Improve the insulation in the ceiling — by installing a new lower ceiling separated by insulation board.

  • Stop the draughts which penetrate the external door — by fitting a wooden frame inside the stone door surround.

  • Stop the draughts from the window — by installing secondary glazing.

How much will this cost?

It should cost no more than £10,000 to complete these three items, each of which can be done separately. We will be able to recover VAT (not included) but will have to pay the builder before we can reclaim it from the government.

How much do we need to raise?

We have raised over £5,000 through various events this year, which leaves us with £5,000 to find. We also need short term funding for the £2,000 VAT bill.

Who is responsible?

Although Holy Ascension is an Oddington church, the office is only used by the Benefice. An ad-hoc group has been raising funds which have been ring-fenced for this purpose. The works will be supervised by Graeme Ferrero and the finances by Stephen Blake.
