Oliver Strange was licensed as Priest in Charge* of Broadwell, Evenlode, Oddington, Adlestrop and Westcote with Icomb and Bledington by the Bishop of Tewksbury, the Rt Rev’d Robert Springett on Tuesday 31 August 2021. His first service was held the following Sunday at Holy Ascension, Oddington.
Oliver has joined us from St John the Baptist, Burford, where he has been curate since 2018. He studied for the ministry at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, having previously worked as a teacher. He studied languages at Sheffield and Oxford and says “I love languages and word origins, and I speak Welsh, Russian and a smattering of a few others, like Greek and Hebrew, which have seriously helped me as a lover not just of words, but also of The Word.”
He and his wife Lucie have moved into the Broadwell rectory.
*Priest in Charge is a term used by the Church of England where for pastoral reasons the diocesan bishop does not wish to grant the freehold and thus make the priest an incumbent.
